Paul

Paul has over 25 years of professional experience in energy technology, environmental construction management, and sustainable consulting.  He has been responsible for the design, engineering, and installation of megawatts of solar facilities, as well as utility scale energy development and project management.

Paul was in Maryland’s first class for solar power installation training with Atlantic Solar/Solarex (BP) in the early 1990’s.  Using this skillset, Paul was a sales agent, sales manager and consultant for KW Solar, Wisepower, and CMI Solar, operating in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.

He is the Eastern States District Manager and the National Trainer for Polarhide and Epoxy Cool Roof Systems. ESCO Atlantic Group LLC is now the sole distributor for the Mid-Atlantic Region.

He received his Bachelor of Science and Masters (SCL) from the University of Delaware and was awarded the University’s highest recognition for research in his field.

Paul is a pioneer in the repurposing brownfields, managing the development of utility-scale solar park with a nameplate of 6.2 megawatts production. Over 25 years, Paul has accumulated experience in general contracting and construction of commercial solar projects. He is Building Professional Institute (BPI) trained (energy audits and efficiency), and state certified to teach Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy courses in Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania to Realtors, Appraisers, and Construction Companies.

He has written and developed certified college level credit courses on Solar Power, Sustainability, Energy Audits, The Green Home, and the Green Building. Paul authored and taught university credit courses in sustainable strategies and technology at Wilmington and Delaware State Universities.

Paul’s breadth of experience and study has led him to partnerships to represent the latest and most advanced Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy products for commercial entities.

These partnerships have novel technology and significant experience in Solar Energy, Waste-to-Energy, Microgrids, Battery Storage, Advanced Proprietary Analytic Monitoring for Energy Optimization, Solar Thermal HVAC, and Biomass Renewable Energy.   And Paul continues to search the landscape for additional technologies to help companies meet their sustainability goals.

Neil

Neil has over twenty years of experience in engineering, operations, commercial trading, logistics, and strategy, as well as a lifetime of small business experience.   As a Chemical Engineer from the University of Delaware, Neil has worked in commodity chemicals, wastewater treatment, oil and gas, energy, hospitality, cybersecurity, and business improvement.

While in the oil, gas, and energy markets, Neil worked to reduce power consumption and lower emissions by increasing efficiency in a variety of industries.    He led the sustainability effort at a large refinery, managing a team to research and integrate novel and established technologies to decrease the impact the facility had on the climate, and creating a plan to participate in the new green economy.

While working with the National Renewable Energy Laboratories (NREL), he researched and created a strategy to utilize green electricity for hydrogen production and integrate it into current value streams.   Understanding how hydrogen and connected battery grids will interact, Neil assists in creating clear direction for capital expenditure related to renewable power, variability, resiliency, and grid demand impacts.

Neil also has deep experience in hospitality, focusing on efficient operations.  Under his direction, hotels have implemented cool roof systems, 100% renewable power contracts, and AI-driven energy management software.

As a Six Sigma Black Belt, Neil uses data to drive decisions and creates realistic and achievable implementation plans.  This background can be used to create and elevate teams working within larger organizations to achieve their sustainability and climate impact goals.

Using his engineering and business experience, Neil evaluates technology for ESCO Atlantic to build a business plan and work with clients to determine if the technology is a good fit for them.  Additionally, his broad background allows him to assist clients in a variety of ways, including monetization of environmental credits, marketing, and understanding how macro trends can influence decisions being made today.

Our History

An early adopter of sustainability, Paul embraced solar initiatives in the late 80’s, helping to build some the largest early projects in the northeast. At same time, he took courses from suppliers, government organizations, and the University of Delaware to increase his knowledge and understand the underlying drivers of the Green Economy. This allows Paul to predict the next moves and fully evaluate technologies to ensure that clients are not investing in a product that will be obsolete or have better incentives available in the near future. Along his journey, Paul developed a deep network of like-minded colleagues to vet opportunities.

In 2019, Paul approached Neil about joining forces to grow the business. Neil’s background in the energy sector offered new insights and his engineering education give ESCO Atlantic the ability to certify technologies. And his business acumen helps clients understand the options for financing projects.

In their short time together, Paul and Neil have developed and vetted a portfolio with a mix of tried-and-true and innovative technologies for companies and governments of all sizes.
