Benjamin R Zehr
Intern and Marketing Rep for Universities
Benjamin Zehr is a citizen of both India and the United States. Having spent his childhood in rural India, and completed his middle-schooling there, Ben moved to the United States in 2007 and began his upper education at the University of Illinois Laboratory High School, a select admission school associated with the university. He graduated in 2011, and decided to return to Maharashtra to help set up solutions to the problems he grew up around - starting a rural eye care outreach project called Dekhon, which now serves over 2 million people (and growing) in medically deficient rural Maharashtra. Starting in the fall of 2012, he has attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York as an undergraduate majoring in International Agriculture and Rural Development.
As someone with an international perspective on development issues, particularly in the fields of food and energy, Ben joined ESCOAtlantic as an Intern in the spring of 2013, to both gain exposure to the technologies and methods that are sure to shape the future of the [developing] world in a big way, and also to help Universities - hotbeds of innovation on this front - to grow their commitments to a cleaner, more sustainable future. As an intern, Ben acts as a liaison and marketing representative to Colleges and Universities across the United States, seeking to improve their on campus operations - from transportation to energy to infrastructure.
